“Oblivion” Received $100 Million and Tom Cruise

oblivionThe new movie, Oblivion, seems to finally get off the ground. This project will be carried out by director Joseph Kosinski. It’s his original project that was first dropped down by Disney who claimed that the PG-13 dystopian epic was no friend to their brand.

While cynics state that a big part in this decision was played by TRON, we can observe a happy ending. The movie landed at Universal Pictures and received a budget of $100 million. The best news is that the film will also receive Tom Cruise as a star trophy.
According to some sources, Tom Cruise has already signed on for “Oblivion”. What role will Kosinski give him? Maybe the celebrity will get the sort of role he played in Minority Report by Steven Spielberg back in 2002.
We suggest you read this short synopsis to get the idea why we think so.
Oblivion takes us to the future. The surface of the Earth is highly irradiated. The remnants of humanity are forced to survive above the clouds, because the ruins are stalked by vicious aliens. Repairman Jak can’t stay away from the surface. He is drone to it. One day he finds a mysterious woman. This event starts a big chain of other events, and Jak is forced to question everything he knew before about his world.
Cruise can portrait Jak, can’t he? Being caught up in different events, re-examining what you live for, going from one revolutionary set piece to another, doesn’t it sound like a perfect role for Tom? We think it does.
The popular movie star will appear in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol that will be released in winter. Besides, he is working on Rock of Ages, the Broadway rock musical’s adaption by Adam Shankman. He will be starring as a rock superstar Stacee Jaxx. Gasp! He’ll sing! Surprised?
Tom might appear in Guillermo del Toro’s project as well. Still nothing has been confirmed yet, so there are still chances that he’ll play in Oblivion.
The previous work by Kosinski, TRON: Legacy, isn’t that great, according to the movie fans. But the problems with it have a lot to do with the script and not his ability to direct. If script writers Karl Gajdusek and William Monahan create a better story, the new movie may be much better.
With Cruise attached, Oblivion’s production should ramp up speedily.
